The 20th anniversary Rutland International CiCLE Classic
could have been abandoned yesterday after it appears vandals removed some signs and turned others round on parts of the course just hours before the start. The 153 strong field, featured European and UK riders, was also dramatically reduced just a few kilometres into the 185 kilometres circuit. That's around 80 we're taken out in the collision as the narrow lane they were travelling down in Wymondham got wider then narrower, leaving no room for overtaking competitors. Two riders were taken to hospital. They're both expected to make a full recovery. The top three led for much of the closing stages, with Magnus Lorents Nielsen third, Tom Armstrong. 2nd and Otto van Zanden first.
