Judging is taking place today of Stamford shop windows
in the return of the Defender Burghley Horse Trials competition for town traders. Nearly 30 businesses have been decorated with an equestrian and country theme. Meanwhile in the forthcoming five star competition it's been confirmed three time Burghley winner Oliver Townend is entered once again riding Cooley Rosalent, an 11 year old mare owned by Paul and Diana Ridgeon. which won Defender Kentucky last year. Oliver says he's always hungry for the early competition despite being a multiple winner.
‘I hope I've got a few left in me as well. Burghley is such a special place to me. My dad rode here in 1984. Apparently my first sentence was going to Burghley. So yeah, it's been a big part of my life and to ride here is a very special thing for any event rider’.
