An archaeological dig of a quarry in West Deeping has uncovered evidence of a settlement and agriculture spanning 6,000 years.
Investigations of the Cemex West Deeping quarry has been underway since the 1990s, when surveys and aerial photography first gave indications of its history. Evidence from the Neolithic period, Bronze Age, Iron Age and mediaeval periods has been discovered. There's a chance to see some of the finds this Saturday afternoon at West Deeping Village Hall between 1:00pm and 5:00pm before they go into storage. There's then a talk on Saturday evening organised by the West Deeping Heritage Group.
