Men found guilty of hare coursing

Source: Lincolnshire Police Facebook page

Three men have been sentenced for taking part in a hare coursing match in Lincolnshire.

A dog involved was so badly injured it had to be put to sleep. They all travelled more than two hours to be at the meeting on the 9th of February last year. 33 year old Shane Hooton from Knaresborough, 39 year old John Langan from Great Ayton and 42 year old Thomas Jaffray from Middlesbrough all pleaded guilty to pursuing hares. All three were handed 15 year criminal behaviour orders and were disqualified from keeping a dog for 10 years. Police believe the owner of the injured dog, Shane Hooton, had tried to stitch the animal's injuries himself rather than seek veterinary care.
