There's a chance to find out more about Uppingham’s over 40 year relationship with its twin town Caudebec-en-Caux.
An event is being held in the parish church rooms between 3:00pm and 5:00pm this afternoon. It's hoped to recruit some more members to take the association forward. Henry Dawe is from the Uppingham Twinning Association and is urging anyone who is interested to come along this afternoon. He's hopeful their long standing relationship can continue to the next generation.
’Those cultural ties are extremely important and we actually have a twinning charter which sets out everything that the association has to achieve and commits us to certain priorities in the twinning relationship. And one of those is actually building up pen pal relationships which are really developing now and we're very pleased to see that. So anyone locally who has a family who might be interested in coming along to that recruitment event, we would be delighted to see you there. I call it a recruitment event but there's no pressure really. If you just want to go and find out that's absolutely fine and go away and have a think, but it would be lovely to welcome more families into the group as we extend the relationships to other people in the area’.
