Oakham has a new mayor following an extraordinary meeting last night of Oakham Town Council.
Councillor Paul Ainsley takes over from Adam Lowe who was left to become Clerk of Uppingham Town Council. Councillor Ainsley thanked Councillor Lowe for all he had achieved during his 14 years of service to the town. The new mayor says he pledges to behave in an open, honest and transparent way as councillors work together to make Oakham a better place to work, rest and play and that by working together, he says, we can invigorate our county town. He went on to say Oakham is the jewel in the crown of Rutland and it's time for our county town to shine once more.
