An officer from Kendrew Barracks in Cottesmore serving with the Royal Anglian Regiment sets off today on a 153 mile five day hike along the Viking way from Barton-upon-Humber to Oakham.
Lieutenant Adam Bevan will be carrying 45 pounds of operational kit and will complete the challenge without a support vehicle or accompanying team.
He is raising funds for the Royal Anglian regiment charity which supports serving and formers members and their families in times of hardship and need.
Veterans are expected to join Adam for sections of the route which will finish at Oakham Library on Friday.
