As Rutland and Stamford braces itself for a month's worth of rain, Rutland County Council has issued advice on not to drive or even walk through flood water
and to watch for debris and missing storm covers. Leicestershire & Rutland's 4 by 4 responses are also ready to help drivers. Rutland and Stamford Sound will keep you up to date with roads affected, and up-to-date local weather. Our local forecaster Phil Morrish says the rain comes off the back of a wetter week so it's likely to cause disruption.
‘Rain is now with us and is likely to be with us for most of the day and some of this will be heavy, a lot it will be heavy and we're looking at very, very large totals now. 25 to 35 millimetres, even on the lower ground areas is a lot of rain and that's about two to three weeks of rain falling in the day now. Considering this week we've already had 20 to 30 it'll be the whole of November's rain. Falling at the rate that it is flooding could well be a problem’.
