Rutland County Council has made changes to the proposed local plan by removing 140 homes from Brooke Road in Oakham, saying they needed to listen to the people.
They received 277 objections for this development alone, relating to extra congestion at the railway crossing, lack of infrastructure and flood risk and ecology. In the cabinet meeting this week, councillors voted to remove this development but say they needed to keep over 1000 proposed for elsewhere in the county to keep up with Government targets on house building, which includes 650 at Quarry Farm on the border with Stamford, 315 in Uppingham, 85 at the former Officers Mess at Edith Weston and 94 on Stamford Road in Oakham.
