Hospitality and tourism businesses in Rutland are calling on the government to halve the amount of VAT they pay, which they say could make the difference between sink or swim.
A national campaign by chef Tom Kerridge is being backed by Discover Rutland. Jason Allen, who's chair and also owner of The Fox at North Luffenham, says it would bring us in line with many of our European neighbors.
A petition called VATs The Problem is launched today and has already attracted nearly a quarter of a million signatures. They hope to get over four times that.
