The tale of Oncar's Adventure at Rutland Water has been written by Tracey Dene Powell and children from Langham Primary School helped shape the book. It's on sale at Walkers, village shops and there's a free audio download.
The legend of the Rutland Panther has been revived in a new children’s book from a Whissendine author. Oncar’s Adventure at Rutland Water has been written with help from children at Langham Primary School, and it features a trail to follow based on the fisherman’s map of the reservoir. Thanks to support by a couple from the village, David & Jean Penny, copies of the book are given for free to every primary school in the county. Author Tracey Dene Powell hopes the book feeds childrens' imagination and encourages families to explore Rutland Water. Children from Langham C of E Primary School tell us what the book meant to them, after we hear a little of the audiobook:
