The Kings Award for Voluntary Service is the highest award any voluntary organisation can receive - Stamford Air Cadets is one of a handful of hundreds of Cadet squadrons to receive it, and the only one in Lincolnshire. A ceremony took place at Stamford Town Hall on Wednesday night.
The process to apply for the award started in 2021, with support from the then Mayor Councillor Gloria Johnson. The squadron has raised hundreds of thousands of pounds for charity, and regularly gets involved with community activities and events, including those held by the Town Council. The award was presented by Toby Dennis, the Lord Lieutenant of Lincolnshire. On the interview, hear from Senior Volunteer Advisor of the Air Cadets, Group Captain Andy Pass, the current OC of the Squadron Danielle Tetherton and former Mayor and still Councillor Gloria Johnson.
