A new Stamford Poet Laureate has been announced.
Ross Ayres beat nine other wordsmiths to the title. The competition for the spokesperson for the town has been running for 14 years at the Arts Centre.
‘I'm amazed actually. Yeah, I've never won anything in my life so it's a great privilege and honour. I've always enjoyed poetry. I think it's a fantastic method for self-expression. I love the arts. I've always been involved in it. I've just more recently in the last three or four years just gone into performing and going to open mikes and it's just kind of blossomed from there really’.
