Stamford WI has welcomed its 100th member on its 10th anniversary.
The rebirth of the organisation in the town meets on the third Wednesday of the month at the Danish Invader and now has several special interest groups too. They're also raising money for Peterborough Women's Aid, with the chance to find out about the costumes used in Strictly in the West End with a talk at Stamford Corn Exchange on the afternoon of the 9th of March for International Women's Day. President of Stamford WI Karen Benson says they couldn't have believed when they started their first meeting 10 years ago it would have taken off like it has.
‘We had lots of people attend. I think there was about 70 people come and see what we're all about, to find out more and obviously we were learning at the same time. So 10 years on and it's just been growing and growing. We had our 10th anniversary meeting last Wednesday and we were up to about 99 members, so we did give a shout out to all our visitors and said, who would like to be the 100th member.so we have the lovely Jacqueline Binnington she said that she'd like to be. So yeah we're now 100 members can't believe it on our 10th anniversary so yeah just brilliant. It's been great.’
