A group of locals spent last night under the stars outside Tesco in Oakham
for the Great Tommy Sleep Out. They have so far raised over £1,500. The team of five were doing it in memory of the dad of one of the team who died last year. He was a military veteran, having served in the Army. Matthew Cooper tells us more.
‘Unfortunately, we lost my dad late last year, and he was in the Army for about 12-13 years I believe. He suffered with PTSD and yeah it's a way of raising money when we saw the advertisement for doing this for charity and the Great Tommy Sleep Out. It's helping veterans, you know, it's helping getting off the streets and into housing and that and also helping them, you know, for when they are finished with the army as well, you know. And yeah, we thought it was a great cause and we thought we would come out and do this this evening for it’.
