Up to 250 classic vehicles are parking in Uppingham marketplace and High Street this morning to pay history to the transportation of Stilton Cheese.
The annual Classic Vehicle run sees vintage cars, vans and motorbikes make their way to the Bell Inn at Stilton to remember the horse drawn journey that made its way from Quenby Hall near Hungarton years ago. They take a cross country route through the Welland Valley via Harringworth and to Oundle and lunch is served at New Lodge Farm in Bulwick, where in years gone by the coach changed horses. Organiser Ron Simpson says it's a relaxed day for those taking part.
'They set off at their own pace. Many will stop at the farm near Bulwick and have hog roast lunch there. The cars are all lined up in the field so it's quite a good place to come see them all in at one time and then they'll move on from there onto The Bell Inn in the early afternoon’.
