Seven fire appliances have been tackling the two incidents, which have also caused a major power cut in Whissendine village and towards Cold Overton.
Two separate field fires - one north of Whissendine, and another between Whissendine and Langham - have disrupted overhead power lines, resulting in a complete power outage across Whissendine Village. Nearly 600 homes were affected - as of 5pm over half the properties are now back on. Seven pumps have been deployed by Leicestershire Fire & Rescue across both locations. National Grid is working to replace damaged poles and lines – it’s also thought a substation has been affected. It’s hoped all supplies can be restored by 9pm tonight.
