Two people have been convicted of manslaughter after a 37 year old man died in Wellhead Park in Bourne in June last year.
21 year old Reece Bruns of St Paul's Gardens told jurors at Lincoln Crown Court he'd lashed out in defence. He'd used a machete against Kyle Marshall and ended up stabbing him. Bruns had been passed the weapon by a 17 year old who can't be named for legal reasons. The court heard there'd been a number of disagreements between Bruns and Mr Marshall in the lead up to the incident. Both Bruns and the 17 year old were charged with murder and possession of a bladed article in a public place. Bruns had denied the charges before being found guilty of manslaughter and the second offence.
The pair have been remanded in custody and will be sentenced on the 16th May. The trial, which ended yesterday, had been going on for four weeks. Police say mobile phone evidence was crucial in bringing the case to court and they spoke to 100 people in gathering evidence.
