The outgoing Vicar of Oakham says it could take up to a year for his replacement to begin work.
Reverend Stephen Griffiths has been called to Shropshire to work with the Bishop of Hereford. He's been looking after Oakham and the surrounding villages for seven years.
"So I'll finish on the 3rd of August. That's my last Sunday. Please come and say hello if you're around on that Sunday. I'll start in September and the appointment process for the next vicar and team rector of Oakham Team will begin in the autumn. Hopefully there's somebody out there who's going to come and really enjoy leading this team of churches. So effectively, somebody perhaps in place in the new year, your replacement, or perhaps a bit sooner, I would say pray for that. If it all goes well and the right person is interviewed, you could have a new vicar in and certainly in a year's time, hopefully less."
