The Daniels are out of the bottom four as they extended their unbeaten home run beating Bishop’s Stortford 1-0. Connor Bartle with the goal on 12 minutes.

Cottesmore are through to the final of the Everards Tiger League Cup for the first time since they won the Cup in 2020 after their 4-0 win over visitors Sileby Town in an excellent team performance. In the final they will play Lutterworth Athletic Reserves.

Leon Kavanagh put them ahead on 12 minutes with a well struck shot inside the penalty area. Josh Clark then scored two, the first on 34 minutes after the keeper had dropped a cross and then firing home following a through ball from Leon in third minute of first half added time. The scoring was completed by Leon on 88 minutes.

In the Peterborough and District League Premier Division it was a disappointing afternoon for our local clubs as Uppingham Town lost away at Eye Rangers, 3-1. Stamford Bels were beaten 4-3 at home despite goals from Luke Cramp, Lewis Morley and Louie Roberts.

To Division 1 and congratulations to Daniel Reserves who have been promoted in their final fixture of the season following their 5-3 victory at Bourne Town Reserves. A Jake Walton brace and a goal each for Jamie Milner, Jacob Poxon and Adam Steels. The win sees them go top again but Long Sutton Athletic a point behind and games in hand.

Talking of Long Sutton Athletic, Ketton Sports Premiair picked a useful point at home against them in a 0-0 draw, whilst Stamford Lions were beaten 2-0 by visitors Netherton United Reserves.

Now to the United Counties Premier Division North and Blackstones in their last away game made it two away wins on the bounce, 2-1 at Kimberley Miners Welfare but remain next to bottom. Harry Peasgood and Cameron Rankin in the 90th minute on target. Deeping Rangers lost 1-0 to visitors Melton Town.

Bourne Town went down 5-0 at Wellingborough Town in the Northern Premier League Midlands Division.

Women’s Football

Oakham United drew 1-1 with Brookside Athletic in their first home fixture of the year. Emma Couzens with the goal. A result that sees them drop to 5th in the Leicestershire Women’s League Division 1.

Deeping Rangers were beaten 4-1, Yas Green with the goal by visitors top of the table Spalding United in the Cambridgeshire Women’s Division 1.

Rugby

In the Gallagher English Premiership Big Match weekend, Northampton Saints remain top following their late 21-17 victory over Saracens thanks to an Archie McParland try, his second on 78 minutes and a conversion by Rory Hutchinson. The other try coming from Tom Litchfield and Fin Smith with two conversions.

Leicester Tigers completed the double over Gloucester, whilst retaining the Slater Cup by 36 points to 17.

Tries for Jamie Blamire with two and one each for Orlando Bailey, Gabriel Hamer-Webb, Harry Wells and Will Wand. Billy Searle with two conversions and one for James O'Connor.

Stamford lost at home in a fast hard game to 3rd placed Broadstreet, 47-12 in Regional 2 Midlands East

Bourne made it four wins in a row in Counties 1 Midlands East (North) as they ran out winners 30-15 at Southwell, whilst at the same time securing a league double.

To Counties 3 Midlands East Division (South North) and Stamford College Old Boys returned to winning ways in another tight game against their hosts Aylestone Athletic by 19 points to 17. The result means they have completed a league double.

The Old Boys scored three tries which were shared between Harry Bell, James Green and Jimmy Twose. Two conversions added by Sam Forrest.

For the second home fixture in a row Oakham have had a home walk over. This time against South Leicester.

Women’s Rugby

Stamford Women 1sts made it five wins in a row in all competitions as they won their last away game in the Women's NC 1 East league by 29 points to 22 at Colchester Iceni who are third and one place below them. At the same time completing a league double at a side who had not lost at home since December.

Liberty Ashdown scoring two tries, whilst one a piece for Sophie Cartwright, Brogan Cranfield and Jess Gargan. Daisy Attley with two conversions.

Last league fixture is on Saturday April 25th when they will host Wymondham Wasps.
