Oakham 1sts lost to Newtown Linford 1sts by 29 runs in the Premier Division, the 2nds beat the leaders of Division 4 East, Leicester Cricketers 1sts by one wicket, Nick Gerber taking 5-19. The 3rd X1 in Division 9 East won by nine wickets against Fleckney Village 2nds to complete a league double, Tom Banham making 104.
Uppingham Town 1sts in Division 1 lost at 2nd placed Broomleys 1sts by 67 runs with the 2nds losing at home to Thorpe Arnold 2nds in Division 5 East by seven wickets. The 3rd X1 had n eight-wicket victory after dismissing Countesthorpe 3rd XI for 88 in Division 9 East.
Division 7 East 2nd placed Market Overton 1sts secured a 95-run win over Gumley 1sts, whilst the 2nds lost by eight wickets to Wakerley & Barrowden 1sts in Division 9 East, whose captain Chris White took his 500th wicket for the club in their total of 97. Congratulations Chris.
Lincolnshire Cricket Board Premier League:
Despite Ryan Gilmour making 108, Burghley Park 1sts lost at Woodhall Spa 1sts by three wickets.
South Lincs & Border League:
Ketton Sports 1sts beat Woodhall Spa 2nds in the Championship by 61 runs, Marcus McDevitt with 5-30, whilst in Division 3, the 2nds won at unbeaten leaders Freiston L&L 2nds by seven wickets, Tyler Sculthorpe 97 not out.
Burghley Park 2nds in Division 1 lost by two wickets at home to Ancaster 1sts.
Uffington 1sts in Division 3 lost to visitors Royal Boston 2nds by seven runs.
Cambridgeshire & Huntingdonshire League Division 2:
Stamford Town 1sts lost by just two wickets to top of the table and unbeaten Southill Park 1sts with the 2nds losing in the Huntingdonshire League Division 2 at Blunham 2nds by six wickets.
Rutland League:
Burghley Park 1sts won by 27 runs after making 248 against City 1sts, whilst Oakham 1sts after posting 145 lost by two wickets at Werrington 1sts in Division 1.
To Division 2 and Uffington 1sts lost to visitors Werrington 2nds by 22 runs despite half-centuries from Rob Bentley and Jonathan Dalley as they finished on 225-7.
In Division 3, Stamford Town 1sts beat Bourne 1sts by nine wickets after they were bowled out for 68. Shahbaz Mohammed taking 5-27.
Ketton Sport 1sts away game was conceded by Castor & Ailsworth 1sts.
Market Overton 1sts in Division 4 East lost at home to Whittlesey 1sts by seven wickets.
Grantham and Melton Cricket Association Division 2:
Burghley Park 2nds lost at Melton Mowbray 1sts by six wickets despite 122 from John Barker and Stamford Town 2nds went down by three wickets at Croxton Kerrial 1sts.
Football
Leicester City following relegation from the Premiership came back to win 2-1 against Sheffield Wednesday in their Championship opener. Vestergaard and Faes with the goals.
Peterborough United remain pointless after losing 2-0 at home to Luton Town in League 1.
The Daniels in their Southern League Premier Central opener played out a goalless draw at home to Alvechurch.
Disappointing afternoon for our local sides in Premier Division of the Peterborough and District League, champions Uppingham Town lost their season opener 1-0 at home to Netherton United, Oakham United lost 3-2 at Leverington Sports with both Oakham goals coming from new signing Charlie Willis, whilst promoted Stamford Bells went down 7-1 at Sawtry with Deeping Rangers Reserves losing out at home in a seven goal thriller 4-3 to Warboys Town.
Division 1 saw the Daniels Reserves win 5-1 at Park Farm Pumas, Ketton Sports Premiair beat Netherton United Reserves 4-1 away, whilst Stamford Lions lost 5-1 at Yaxley Reserves.
Bourne Town could not get off to winning start following their promotion to Northern Premier League - Midlands Division as they were beaten 1-0 at home by Coleshill Town.
To the United Counties Premier Division North where Blackstones beat Eastwood 2-0 thanks to goals from Eddie Grunsteins and Eddie Thorpe, whilst Deeping Rangers unbeaten record has come to an abrupt end losing 6-0 at Sherwood Colliery.
Finally, another seven-goal game this time in the Everards Brewery Premier Division where Cottesmore went down 4-3 at home to Aylestone Park Reserves despite leading 2-0 at half-time. The Cottesmore scorers were George Cross, Ryan Hall and Harry McLoughlin.
