Final day of the Leicestershire & Rutland League

Oakham 1sts have retained their Premier Division status as they won by two wickets at Sileby Town 1sts. Earlier Shaun Morris had taken 5-36. The 2nds in Division 4 East beat champions Houghton & Thurnby 2nds by seven wickets. The 3rd X1 lost at Market Overton 2nds by five wickets.

Uppingham Town 1sts, have been relegated after they lost by two runs at home to Loughborough Carillon 1sts in Division 1. The 2nds despite losing by 57 runs at Leicester Banks 2nds remain in Division 5 East. As to the 3rds, they were beaten at Wakerley & Barrowden 1sts by six wickets with captain Chris White 90 not out in Division 9 East after they were all for 168 with Ali Hall taking 5-16.

Market Overton 1sts lost by eight wickets away to Cosby 2nds in Division 7 East.

Lincolnshire Cricket Board Premier League

Burghley Park 1sts lost at home to Bourne 1sts by one wicket despite an excellent effort from Sam Potter of 6-22.

South Lincs & Border League

Ketton Sports 1sts were beaten by eight wickets at home to Moulton Harrox 1sts in the Championship.

Division 1 saw Burghley Park 2nds lose by 126 runs at Freiston L&L 1sts.

In Division 3, Ketton Sport 2nds despite losing by 47 runs at Billingborough 2nds are runners up. Uffington 1sts beat Heckington 2nds by seven wickets.

Rutland League

Congratulations to Burghley Park 1sts who are champions of Division 1 as Peterborough Town 1sts, the only side that could have caught them had their game abandoned.

Stamford Town 1sts won at Wellingborough Indians 2nds by 56 runs in Division 3.

Division 4 East, Market Overton 1sts lost at home to Peterborough Town 2nds by six wickets and Uffington 2nds beat Sawtry 1sts by seven wickets in Division 4 West.

Grantham and Melton Cricket Association Division 2

Final games for Burghley Park 2nds and Stamford Town 2nds were abandoned.

Women’s Cricket

Market Overton 1sts final fixture at Duffield 1sts was abandoned.

Football

Leicester City drew 2-2 in the Championship at Oxford United despite having Aaron Ramsey sent off.

Peterborough United has their first win in League One, 2-1 over Wycombe Wanderers. Matthew Garbett and Jimmy-Jay Morgan on target.

The Daniels are into the FA Cup Third Qualifying Round with a 2-0 win at Shepshed Dynamo. Goals by Jon Challinor and Kai Tongue

In the Premier Division of the Peterborough and District League, Uppingham Town lost 1-0 at Netherton United, Stamford Bells went down 3-1 to Moulton Harrox, Keenan Murphy with the goal, whilst Deeping Rangers Reserves beat Leverington Sports 3-0.

To Division 1 and Ketton Sports Premiair were 2-1 winners over ICA Sports, Dean Giglio and debut goal for Ricki Goodale. Stamford Lions drew 1-1 thanks to a Connah Hunt goal against Park Farm Pumas.

The Peterborough & District League Senior Cup 1st Round saw Oakham United beat Crowland Town 3-2 with a Charlie Willis brace and Jake Hatherill, whilst Daniels Reserves beat Yaxley Reserves 3-0, Razvan Vladut double and Joey Buckingham goal to go through to the Challenge Cup Second Round.

Bourne Town lost 3-1 at Mickleover, Brad Marshall with the goal in the Northern Premier League Midlands Division.

United Counties Premier Division North, Blackstones won 2-1 at Heanor Town to extend their unbeaten run to five with goals from Josh Sennett and Ed Thorpe. Deeping Rangers lost 3-2 at AFC Mansfield.

Cottesmore are up and running with a 4-1 victory over Burbage & Huncote in the Everards Brewery Premier Division. A double for both Steve Jucikas and Leon Kavanagh.

Women’s Football

Stamford AFC drew 2-2 at home to Rotherham United First in the East Midlands Women’s Regional Football League Premier Division. Fran Kavanagh and Zaiga Lacite on target for them.

The Leicestershire Women’s League Division 1 saw Oakham United lose 6-3 away at Brookside Athletic. Zina Cheikh, Emma Couzens and Gemma Davies with their goals.

Cambridgeshire Women’s League Division 1 and Deeping Rangers beat Cambridge City Development 4-1, Yas Green scoring all four.

Rugby

Stamford had a convincing 43 points to 19 win at home in the Regional 2 Midlands East against Old Coventrians.

Bourne lost at Nottingham Moderns by 22 points to 10 in Counties 1 Midlands East (North).

Counties 3 Midlands East Division (South North) and Oakham lost 48-21 to Leicester Lions 2nds. Angus Boyle with two tries and James Easson the other, three conversions for Lewis Crellin.

Stamford College Old Boys won their first ever match at Uffington Road 26-3 against Rugby Welsh. Callum Fraser with two tries, Dan Smith and Ryan Whitmore one each. Carl Brierley-Lewis with three conversions.

In Premiership Rugby Cup Pool B, Leicester Tigers beat Saracens 20-7
