Augustus the Bear arrives in Ukraine

St Augustine's School, in Stamford, hope to forge links with the Ukrainian school who adopted Augustus.

A teddy bear called Augustus, named after the school that sent him, has arrived at a primary school in Ukraine after a long journey from Stamford, along with two ambulances of aid.

A teddy bear from a shoebox collection to help Ukraine could help forge closer links with a school there. St Augustine’s in Stamford sent Augustus the Bear, along with aid in two ambulances from Helpston, and he’s now found a home in a Ukrainian school. Maths teacher Debbie Tuisavura told Rutland & Stamford Sound that her children really enjoyed getting involved:

“It’s hard times for all of us,” says Debbie, “and the children were really responsive to the appeal and they’ve been really excited hearing about Augustus’ journey. Hopefully we are going to forge a link with this school in Ukraine….over the years, who knows what will happen?”

Willow Class, where Debbie works at St Augustine’s School, are the same age as the Ukrainian class that has adopted Augustus the Bear and it is hoped that bonds and common interests will develop between the two schools.
