Campaign against Kilnside Energy Park

Source: Rutland & Stamford Sound Facebook page

Campaigners against the second solar farm for the north side of Stamford say the area will be surrounded by solar panels and that the latest development looks to be even bigger than Mallard Pass.

If planning is approved for Kilnside Energy Park, which due to its 3,000 acre size is set to rest with the government to approve. It will stretch from Castle Bytham to Exton. Banners have gone up urging a stop to Stamford Solar City, which protestors say will be twice the size of Rutland Water. Miles and Francesca live at Pickworth.

‘Everywhere we can see round here, if this Kilnside Stamford Solar City goes ahead, will be covered in solar panels with batteries, inverters and the whole gubbins that goes with it. So it's not just the panels, it's the whole lot that's needed. This is going to be bigger than Mallard Pass and that's why we are calling on people to join our campaign to stop Stamford Solar City. It is going to be twice the size of Rutland Water with the cabling extending to the National Grid. It is going to be the size of Athens, 2/3 the size of Manhattan Island, just to give you a sense of the scale of the infrastructure that's going to be destroying this beautiful landscape that we are so privileged to live in’.
