Cattlemarket car park development commencing soon

The expansion of Cattlemarket car park in Stamford is just one initiative coming together over the next few weeks to improve the infrastructure in that part of town.

The Hopper service will call at the train station soon. Services will become properly hourly again through the day on the tracks and both parent and child and EV spaces are on the way as part of the development of 146 extra spaces at the Cattlemarket. Richard Cleaver, the SKDC member responsible for property, says there's plenty for all travellers to come.

‘There’s basically four things going on. First of all we've got the new parent and child places that were asked for part of the existing car park. Nearly 146 spaces from the end of the month. Just waiting for the lighting to be installed and wired up. We have 8 EV charging points to follow. I can’t ruminate on those yet, but they will be certainly going in near the exit and then we have the bus stop. So from the 27th of May the Town Hopper service will serve that new stop and that will allow people to get to and from the railway station much more easily, which is been something that's been lacking for many, many years. An integrated transport, you need to be able to get to a train on the bus. So that will be starting on the 27th. The existing service which is being extended. That actually fits in nicely because from next Monday we have our full hourly timetable on the railways restored, so there will be the missing train in the morning, the missing train in the afternoon have been reinstated’.
