Cottesmore Military Wives are celebrating 10 years tonight with a special anniversary concert at St. Nicholas Church in the village.
The choir, which was formed after Gareth Malone's TV series, marks 10 years this month. There are now nearly 2,000 women in 72 choirs nationally and internationally. Corinna Selby is still the MD of the choir at Cottesmore. based at Kendrew Barracks, and says they've had some amazing opportunities over the decade.
‘Three albums, a film. We've sung in amazing places. We've sung in the De Montfort Hall in Leicester, we've sung for the Defence National Rehabilitation Centre. We did some fundraising for them. That was amazing. We've sung at Peterborough Cathedral, Lincoln Cathedral but there's also those local churches where we've had concerts for them and they are very special, very intimate, very special. So we're very lucky really yeah we've had lots of opportunities.’
