‘Drive to Arrive Alive’ message from region’s emergency services

With winter fast approaching and our roads becoming ever treacherous, Leicestershire Fire and Rescue are reminding us of the importance of staying focussed while we are behind the wheel.

Leicestershire and Rutland’s Road Safety Team is today reminding us not to drive distracted. The Fatal Four team from Leicestershire Fire and Rescue is urging us to ‘Drive to Arrive Alive’ and to avoid taking phone calls on the move.

They are also recommending that we all check that our tyres are ready for winter driving. They say that winter tyres themselves are less likely to harden in winter and can stop more quickly in wet conditions.

The Fatal Four, that sees the police, fire service and council working together on road safety, covers the four main causes of death or serious injury on our roads. These are speeding, driving while using mobile phones, driving while not wearing a seatbelt and driving under the influence of drink or drugs.
