A team of frontline medical crew members from the Rutland Air Ambulance are hoping to raise enough for three missions this weekend by taking on the 100 kilometre Peak District ultra challenge.
They started walking yesterday and hope to complete it in 36 hours and raise £8,000 in the process. The charity receives no lottery or government funding, and the Helimed Hikers comprises of doctors, paramedics, and other frontline staff that work on the emergency service, which is shared with neighbouring counties.
They've already exceeded their fundraising target as they head into day two.
