Part of Stamford and Rutland Hospital has been sold for housing.
The Northwest Anglia NHS Foundation Trust says it will help them re-invest in new facilities as some old buildings are no longer fit for purpose and would need too much money spending on them to bring them up to standard. Distinctive Developments Group, who've bought the unused area, say it presents a unique opportunity to re-use a vacant listed building and to deliver high quality, sustainable development on a brownfield site. They say they want to transform the site whilst respecting its history, an importance to the Stamford community. A new state-of-the-art treatment unit on the site of the old nurses accommodation block is expected to open in spring next year.
