Rutland and Stamford's MP is concerned Rutland County Council is not exploring all options when it comes to mergers for local government reorganisation.
Alicia Kearns believes although there are four potential options on the table, the Northwest Leicestershire model is the only one that's been fully explored.
‘I actually raised this in Parliament this week where I asked the question of government as to why we are in a situation where essentially Rutland County Council is saying that it wants to go ahead with merging with North Leicestershire. They've been very clear throughout that that is their preference. They haven't put the work in to pull together alternative proposals, whether that be Rutland staying as it is or Rutland joining with South Kesteven. I've got now the results, the Rutland County Council survey which says just like my public events, it like we've known for many months that residents would prefer to be with South Kesteven’.
The Cabinet will receive a report today into local government reorganisation and evolution in the county ahead of a full council meeting next month.
