The plight of our pubs, thanks to current government policy, was highlighted on national TV last night
Rutland and Stamford MP was on BBC's Question Time from Birmingham as part of a cross party panel which also included chef and pub owner, Tom Kerridge. Alicia Kearns highlighted the Bertie Arms in Uffington for the largest rateable increase and the Olive Branch in Clipsham, who, as we heard on Rutland and Stamford Sound recently, say government policy discourages them from taking on casual staff. Alicia Kearns also said the city's MP's should be fighting harder in Parliament to address Birmingham's 18% council tax rise over two years and the long running bin collection strike there.
