The NHS is urging parents across Rutland and Stamford to make sure that children are up to date with their vaccinations, particularly MMR,
as cases of measles continue to rise across the country, particularly among 6 to 12 year olds. There are cases where children in London and the South are going into hospital where there have been outbreaks in schools. The NHS in Lincolnshire hopes to get 95% of children fully vaccinated by 5 years old in the county whereas only 84% have had two doses of the vaccine. The new vaccine, called MMRV, also protects against chickenpox. Parents are being asked to check their child's red book and get a catch up appointment with their surgery if needed.
