Don't Be So Hard On Yourself

Oakham hosts German visitors from their twin town

Barmstedt

The Open Twinning Association says interest is growing since they renewed their relationship with their German twin town.

The county town here have had links with Barmstedt since 1987 and since an event in May to encourage more people to get involved.  A party from Germany has been back in Oakham again in the last fortnight.  A party from Rutland will visit Barmstedt in September and again in November. Henry Dawe, from the Oakham and District Twinning Association says, expanding their reach to take in other parts of Rutland have certainly helped.

‘Absolutely all the time. It's very, very encouraging to see just how much interest there is, you know, Oakham and the surrounding area actually, which is lovely. People don't have to live in the town specifically to be part of this and it's great to see so much enthusiasm. So please do get in touch if you're interested’.
