Peterborough Cathedral in Crisis

Peterborough Cathedral is into its final month of the Cathedral in Crisis appeal, in a bid to stay open seven days a week for free.

The aim is to raise £300,000 in three months, and they passed the halfway point comfortably early on. Vice Dean Tim Alban Jones says they need to be sustainable for the future and the last few weeks is expected to be the most challenging for the appeal.

"I think so, after the initial flurry of enthusiasm, now is the sort of the last little bit and that is quite challenging. We're hoping that people will continue to support us until the end of the month and beyond. This of course is an immediate crisis, but what we're hoping is that this will raise awareness of our financial situation and how we want to make it sustainable not just for this year but actually for the next five, ten, hundred years we want to try and build something sustainable, partnerships with people and businesses within the city and within the diocese."
