Plans to strengthen the cycle routes between Oakham and Rutland Water
are being consulted on with focus this time on Stanford Road. Rutland County Council says it's the missing link after their project on Burley Road. The road will begin near Oakham Library and feature separate cycle paths, improved crossings, signage and surface and connect fully to Burley Park Way where there's a shared path. It's hoped it will lead to less car use and the proposals are available for comment at https://www.rutland.gov.uk/council-news/2026/06/new-cycling-route-proposed-linking-oakham-rutland-water until the 7th of July.
