A play about the First World War through the eyes of women in a Lancashire town is raising money for the Stamford Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.
The Accrington Pals is being performed in the theatre lounge of Stamford Corn Exchange Theatre tonight and tomorrow by Ink Contemporary Theatre and shines a light on the often unheard voices of the women left behind.
This moving production explores the resilience, courage, and quiet strength of a Lancashire community facing loss and uncertainty and honours the endurance of those at home, as well as the men whose lives were forever shaped by the sacrifices of war. It's described as a moving and, in places, humorous production.
