Power has been restored to several villages near Stamford
after a power surge last night reportedly led to a fire at a transformer on Bainton Road in Tallington. Fire crews and National Grid engineers worked well into the early hours in appalling conditions and are being thanked today by locals. Hundreds of houses in Tallington, Bainton, Ashton, Ufford, Barnack and West Deeping were all affected.
