Over £300,000 has been spent on future proofing All Saints Church in Stamford.
Regular Easter services returned today after three months away after new electrics and heating and lighting was installed as well as re-decoration. It was paid for by the National Lottery Heritage Fund and the Garfield Weston Foundation and generous donations from parishioners and people in the town. Rector of All Saints Father Neil Shaw is delighted with the results and the fact they are back in as planned for the Easter services as well as a wedding today.
‘Basically what we've had done is a new heating system. The old oil boiler died a couple of years ago and we had to think about what do we want to put in here and what are we allowed to put in here. And the best solution was the Halo system for this size building and for where we are in Stamford. So the Halo system has a heating element in it. The heat comes down through the chandeliers to those who are underneath it and we thought we're doing that. Let's relook at the lighting. All things was quite dark before. Now it's really light. And they scaffolded the whole building. So we thought, well, let's get the decorators in. So they've re-painted the whole of the building, which hasn't been done for many, many years’.
