Tourism in Rutland and Stamford has been given a boost after it was awarded Local Visitor Economy Partnership accreditation by Visit England.
It was a joint bid between Discover Rutland and Destination Lincolnshire. It's believed tourism is worth nearly 150 million to Rutland's economy alone. The bid will unlock more funding and growth opportunities.
Chair of Discover Rutland, Jason Allen, says local support for their businesses is also crucial:
"That is so important that we continue to promote the county in that vein at a time when businesses are facing lots of challenges, whether it be through margin erosion, whether it be through the cost to operate their businesses, etc. So we recognize the visitor economy is still very key and underpins the Rutland economy."
