Rutland and Stamford’s MP has co-signed a proposal to force courts to consider the theft of high value farm equipment an aggravating factor during sentencing.
Alicia Kearns is one of four MP's who have tabled the amendment to the Crime and Policing Bill. It is proposed machinery and tools valued over £10,000 always be taken into account at sentencing. It is hoped the amendment co-laid by MPs Alicia Kearns, Matt Vickers, Harriet Cross and Katie Lam will be accepted and in turn be a further deterrent to rural crime.
