Search for new police officer for Oakham

Source: Police UK website

Rutland’s Police and Crime Commissioner says they are ensuring they get the right officer for Oakham as they look to recruit following the resignation of the beat Bobby there.

Rupert Matthews visited Rutland yesterday and met with the leader of the council, Lord Lieutenant and members of the local communities in Uppingham and Ashwell. Rupert says they're making sure they get the right officer for Oakham and it's unlikely to be a new recruit.

‘They've done their training, they put in police officers, but to come out into a big rural area with a very, very type of crime of a very type of situation. You need someone with a bit of experience to come here and to do that and at the moment we're trying to identify the right police officer. We will find them, they will be here soon. It will take us a little bit of time to identify them, get them out of where they are at the minute and get them over here to Rutland’.
