The Men’s Shed project in Stamford is today launching a fundraiser in the hope of securing premises to operate.
They believe £15,000 is needed to establish their facility. Chair of Stamford Shed Nigel Harvey says they need to make sure they get the right kind and size of building and location is key. Stamford Town Council has offered them a space near The Shack on the recreation ground.
‘Stamford Town Council has been brilliant right from the beginning and their idea was to have us situated on the rec opposite The Shack. As I say we just need a suitable size building and if we can meet their requirements and they can access ours then hopefully that's what we will do. If it doesn't happen then we just need somewhere else to meet or to have our building or plot of land somewhere. But it's crucial that we're in the centre of town or close to the centre of town because as a community group we want to be the hub of the community'.
