Rutland and Stamford Sound is delighted to announce that it has been awarded a C-DSP Licence by Ofcom, the UK's communications regulator.
This is a Community Digital Sound Programme Licence and is awarded to community radio stations wishing to broadcast on DAB digital radio. At this stage, Rutland and Stamford Sound is working towards broadcasting on traditional radio and the C-DSP Licence is one step towards achieving this aim.
Rob Persani, Station Manager, says "We still have a long way to go before we can broadcast as a DAB digital radio station and so the licence should be viewed as the first of many stepping stones towards reaching this goal. Nevertheless, Rutland and Stamford Sound continues to thrive and make progress as the leading station for locally produced news and content in the Rutland and Stamford region. Being awarded a community licence by Ofcom is a significant achievement, with one of the key requirements being to demonstrate to Ofcom that Rutland and Stamford Sound delivers social gain in the area we serve. It is very pleasing to have official recognition of the station's community credentials. This would not have been possible without the support of our listeners, valuable input from a range of community organisations and a lot of hard work from our volunteers."
