Storm Eunice set to bring 80mph winds to the region

The Met Office has issued an Amber and Red Warnings across the country today.

With an Amber Warning issued by the Met Office for the area, Storm Eunice is expected to reach speeds of up to 80mph around midday today. Widespread disruption is expected across the region and the country and residents have been urged to stay indoors and travel only if necessary.

The height of storm Eunice in Rutland and Stamford is expected to be around midday today. An Amber warning has been issued for the area with wind speeds reaching up to 80mph. There are vastly reduced markets at Uppingham and Stamford today - South Kesteven District Council say that some traders will operate from their vehicles for safety reasons. In Uppingham it looks like half the number of stalls are being set up. Elsewhere, Welland Vale Garden Centre is closed as it is exposed to the full winds on Gas House Hill. Many outdoor attractions are closed as well including Burleigh Park, Rutland Water Park and Nature Reserve, Bourne Woods and the walled garden at Easton.

The storm is expected to cause much disruption to travel and services. Residents have been urged to travel only if necessary.
