Uppingham in Bloom is doing some spring planting today after another successful winter warmer fundraising event yesterday at the Town Hall.
As well as winning gold in the small town category of East Midlands in Bloom, they've once again been shortlisted as finalists in the Britain in Bloom competition with judging taking place for both later this year. Chair of Uppingham in Bloom, Sarah Medley, says they receive a lot of support from the town.
"We do need funds. We get a lot of support from our amazing sponsors and Uppingham Town Council have very kindly supported us with a thousand pounds towards some major large planters to sort of echo what's happened in Mercers, hopefully on either Dairy or Baines, depending on how things pan out. Sunday, we will be be planting up under the trees on Baines's Corner where the council have re-laid the flagstones with permanent planting, snowdrops, aconites, crocus, and whatever else takes our fancy. So, lots of fundraising projects support some of this planting that we need to do around town to maintain it"
