Rutland Police is warning of the dangers of low sun this autumn, after attending a single-vehicle accident on Friday where a car hit a tree after the driver was dazzled.
If the bright sun makes it suddenly difficult to see when driving, officers urge you to stay calm, to slow down and increase your distance from the vehicle in front and to try and look away enough to maintain your position on the road and to safely pull over if necessary until you can see well enough to drive off.
Also, to make sure you have enough screen wash, that your windscreen is clear and clean, and to wear polarised sunglasses if necessary.
