Peterborough United extended their unbeaten run to seven in all competitions with a 1-0 win over Cambridge United but more importantly picking up three points in their fight for League One survival. The goal coming from Tayo Edun on 72 minutes, his second in four games. He was then sent off in the 5th minute of stoppage time for a second bookable offence.

The Daniels moved back into a play-off spot whilst completing the double over their visitors Alvechurch winning 1-0. Elliott Durrell on his debut scoring the goal on nine minutes which extends their unbeaten run to seven games and three wins and three clean sheets on the trot. Daniels are now just three points off the top.  

Deeping Rangers Reserves unbeaten run goes to five in the Premier Division of the Peterborough and District League with a 3-1 win over Ramsey Town. 

Bourne Town made it three league wins on the bounce in the United Counties Premier Division North, 2-1 at 5th placed at AFC Mansfield. Brad Marshall and Zak Munton with the goals.   

Deeping Rangers could not repeat last week’s win against Newark & Sherwood United as they lost 2-0 away.

Blackstones in Division 1 returned to winning ways at 7th placed Gedling Miners Welfare with a 1-0 victory. Josh Barrett with the goal on the hour mark.

Cottesmore extended their unbeaten run in the Everards Brewery Premier Division to six with an impressive team performance as they beat FC Khalsa 5-1 at Westray Park. The Cotts took the lead through Charlie Richards on eight minutes. Penalty was then awarded to the visitors on 28 minutes for hand ball which was well saved by Richard Stainsby. Charlie Richards made it 2-0 three minutes later with another penalty awarded for hand ball on 40 minutes, which this time FC Khalsa scored to make 2-1. The two-goal advantage was restored in the third minute of stoppage time by captain Aaron Ridout.

Into the second half and the Cotts added a fourth on 53 minutes through Leon Kavannagh his eighth goal in six games. Kadeem Price competed the scoring from the penalty spot on 61 minutes. The visitors were then reduced to 10 men on 81 minutes as a straight red was given for a challenge on Leon Kavanagh.

Today in the Premiership, Leicester City having a 7pm kick off at home to Manchester United looking for their first league win in six.

Women’s Football  

A disappointing afternoon for Oakham United as they suffered their heaviest defeat of the season in the semi-final of the County Cup. Loughborough Lightning who are in Tier 4 of the Women’s National League and top of Division One Midlands proved too strong as they won 14-0.
