Football:

The Daniels kept their play-off hopes on track as they beat Banbury United at home 2-0 to remain in 5th. Both goals coming from Kai Sanchez-Tonge on 51 and 76 minutes.

Bourne Town kept their chance of automatic promotion alive from the United Counties Premier Division North to the final game of season at Harrowby United on Easter Monday as they beat Hucknall Town at home 3-2. The Wakes goals coming from a Paul Malone double and Will Bird. Meanwhile, Deeping Rangers completed their home league campaign with a 1-0 victory against Harrowby United.

Blackstones in Division 1 went down 1-0 in their penultimate game of the season at Clay Cross Town. The only goal coming early in the first half, which sees Clay Cross Town crowned champions. Despite the result, Blackstones have secured 4th spot to reach the play-off stage.

Leicester City have been relegated from the Premier League after just one season. Despite a spirited performance they lost 1-0 to leaders Liverpool with their fate confirmed on 76 minutes with a goal from Trent-Alexander-Arnold at the King Power Stadium.

Rugby:

The Stamford trophy cabinet has got fuller as they added to their Counties 1 title, the Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire and Derbyshire Shield held at Ashfield Rugby Club where they ran out the victors by 38 points to 22 against Southwell.

In the Gallagher English Premiership yesterday, Leicester Tigers avenged their heavy defeat in December at home to Bristol as they beat them by 36 points to 19, which included five tries. The result sees the Tigers move from 5th to replace Bristol in 2nd.

Cricket: 

Leicestershire & Rutland Leagues

Oakham Town 1sts had a disappointing start at home in the Premier Division as they were dismissed for 97 by Loughborough Town 1sts who won by six wickets.

In Division 1, a nail-biting finish to a game as hosts Barrow Town 1sts won by just one wicket making 202-9 in reply to Uppingham Town 1sts 201.

Moving to Division 4 East and Oakham Town 2nds posted the highest score of the day for our local sides, 270 all out as they won by 69 runs at Bharat Sports 2nd X1. Uppingham Town 2nds lost at home in Division 5 by 39 runs that was after they had restricted Dunton Bassett 1sts to 146 all out.

Market Overton in Division 7 East got off to the best possible start at home after their relegation on the last day of the season last year with a convincing 9 wicket win. Hallaton Stars 2nd X1 were dismissed for just 87 with the hosts making 90-1 in only 9.3 overs.

To Division 9 East and the local derby fixture saw Market Overton 2nd X1 secure a three wicket win at Uppingham Town 3rd X1 who they dismissed for 99. Oakham 3rd X1 had a comfortable home win by 10 wickets with 169-0 chasing down 167-8 posted by Countesthorpe 3rd X1. Finally, in a low scoring game, Wakerley & Barrowden 1sts won by six wickets at home as they made 84-4 in reply to Barkby United 3rd X1, 83, Chris White with 4 for 4.

South Lincs & Border League

In the Championship, promoted Ketton Sports 1sts could not start off with a win at Newborough 1sts. After being put into bat they were dismissed for 81. The hosts making 84-4 to secure a six-wicket win.
