Football

Leicester City have suffered consecutive defeats in the Championship after losing 1-0 at Millwall.

Peterborough United are bottom of League One after they were beaten 2-1 at home with a late goal by Blackpool who were bottom. Matt Garbett with the Posh goal.

The Daniels remain without a win in the Southern League Premier Central as they suffered their biggest defeat of the season 4-0 at to home Barwell. Three of the goals coming in the first half.

In the Premier Division of the Peterborough and District League, Oakham United returned to winning ways, 2-1 away at Eye Rangers thanks to a double from Kyul Thurley. Uppingham Town though have suffered back-to-back league defeats losing 1-0 away at Warboys Town.

To Division 1 and Ketton Sports Premiair came back from 4-0 down to beat Wittering 5-4 at home thanks to two goals from Jacob Hoffman and one each from Nathan Bedford, Kai Haggett-King and Lewis Saunders.

Bourne Town unbeaten run in the league is now five thanks to a Robbie Ellis equaliser which saw them draw 1-1 at home to Coventry Sphinx in the Northern Premier League Midlands Division.

To the United Counties Premier Division North and Blackstones have ended a run of three league defeats thanks to a Will Bestwick goal as they beat Kimberley Miners Welfare 1-0.

Deeping Rangers also returned to winning ways, 3-0 over visitors Heanor Town. Ryan Cook with a brace and Jacob Goodley.

Cottesmore are through to the 4th Round of the Everards Tigers League Cup after being 2-0 down inside five minutes they won 3-2 at Loughborough Dynamo. Steve Jucikas, Leon Kavanagh and Oli Troth.

Women’s Football

Stamford AFC built on their County Cup win last week with an excellent performance to beat third placed Gainsborough Trinity Community 2-0 in the East Midlands Women’s Regional Football League Premier Division. Zaiga Lacite opened the scoring early in the second half with Katie Gee getting the second in added time.

Leaders Oakham United in the Leicestershire Women’s League Division 1 made it five wins on the bounce at Desford beating them 5-0. Zina Cheikh with two taking her total to 16 goals so far this season, two goals also for Gemma Davies and one from Emma Couzens.

Deeping Rangers in the Cambridgeshire Women’s League Division 1 suffered their fourth league defeat in a row losing 5-2 at Godmanchester Rovers. Harriet Coles with both goals.

Rugby

Leicester Tigers made it two wins on the bounce as they beat Sale Sharks in a nail-biting finish by 36 points to 35 in the Gallagher English Premiership. Adam Radwan going over for two tries with Cameron Henderson, Solomone Kata and Tom Whiteley with the other tries. James O’Connor with three conversions and a penalty and Billy Searle with a conversion.

Stamford played well in a hard-fought game against a strong Kettering side but lost 29-14 away in the Regional 2 Midlands East.

Bourne made it three wins on the bounce as they beat visitors Lincoln by 38 points to 11 in Counties 1 Midlands East (North).

Stamford College Old Boys are out of the NLD bowl as they went down 54-20 to Southwell 2nds so losing their 100% home record. The points for the Old Boys came from four tries, which were scored by Dan Bancroft, Callum Fraser, Kristian Naylor and Alex Walker.

Women’s Rugby

Stamford Women are out of the Women's Intermediate Cup as they lost at home to West Bridgford by 36 points to 12. Phoebe Andrews and Jorja Matchwick with tries and a Liberty Ashdown conversion with their points.
