A new community cafe in Oundle is already fulfilling a need in the town as a space for people to come.
Yesterday was the first day for them at Fletton House and the team behind it say it’s especially needed with the work on at the library at the moment. They're also going to open to support the Tuesday Wellbeing Walk and on Thursdays when Citizens Advice make a weekly visit. Valeria and James Turner say they hope to upskill people too.
‘It seems that the community is happy with our choice to re-open, it would seem that it was empty for a while. There's a lot of scope for people to do different activities here. I think because the library is closed as well, people need somewhere to come to at lunchtime. So we're very happy to take on the community cafe and also going forward me and James we want to do workshops, cookery workshops, upcycle, recycle, re-use. So one of the first ones along that line will be a tie dye workshop. So we also will teach people how to recycle effectively because we all hate it when our bin is not collected’.
